Obama Pulls Ahead in Delegates Won from Primary Elections VotesThree states held primary contests on Saturday, Feb. 9 2008: Nebraska, Washington, and Louisiana. Listen, it wasn't even close. Obama won by at least 20% in each state and in NE and LA he won with a 2 to 1 ratio. Incidentally, the Virgin Islands had their primary and Obama won all three delegate votes there, too.
Obama now leads in delegates awarded from actual registered voters
participating in state primaries, by about 30 points. This may only be
one medium-sized state, but remember the Democrat contests are not
winner take all and there are barely enough states left to catch up
with small victories in most of them. Hillary Clinton would
need to win almost all of the remaining contests, or win half of them
but in a big way. Or... she could go to her backup plan... Hillary Calls for Florida and Michigan Delegates to be Counted"I think that the people of Michigan and Florida spoke in a very
convincing way, that they want their voices and their votes to be
heard. The turnout in both places was record-breaking and I think that
that should be respected,"
This
seems to have been her backup plan since the party rule changes were
announced. If she had a comfortable lead, she wouldn't need to bring
up Florida and Michigan. However, in light of Obama's jump ahead in
the election results, Hillary needs to find a few more delegates and
her uncontested victories in Michigan and Florida are the perfect
source.
These states are considered to be battleground states
in the general election, and Clinton could easily stir up anti-Democrat
resentment if the party decides that those voters won't have any say in
the nomination process. Basically, if she doesn't get her way, she
could throw away her party's chance at a general election victory by
acting as a divider and agitater, taking the side of the people in the
states against the DNC top-brass. It has already been observed that
Hillary's campaign tactics threaten to polarize and turn the left
against itself, and now she has a "nuclear" option. Think mutually assured destruction. Hillary Campaign Manager Quits? Or is she Fired... I really doubt this was party of her campaign plan, and I'm seeing conflicting reports as to whether this manager is stepping down or being forced out. Its basically a dead-end question I guess, because it doesn't really matter if who lost faith in who - the lesson is that at least someone high up in the Clinton campaign is losing faith in their chance at a victory. You don't quit when you're winning, and you don't fire managers when you're winner either. The mindset over there has to be pretty bleak. They came into this so heavily favored that any sign of a loss is a huge set back.
