Site Update (Comments Fixed) E-mail
Thursday, 13 March 2008
I fixed a technical issue that was causing IP addresses to show up when a user left a comment on a news item.  This should be fixed!

I'd like to apologize to anyone bothered by this, I didn't realize it was posted publicly at first since I'm always logged in as admin and can usually access that data (so many spammers to ban so little time.)

Comments "dofollow" because the spammers have made it necessary to moderate everything anyway, so only good on-topic comments will make it through the que.  Also, I don't really like Google's stance on trying to control the types of links websites produce or its general apathy for small-time websites that aren't extremely commercial in nature.

I still need to find a good template 'cuz I'm not happy with the visual layout here, and I want to modify the comment system so you can all use your name input as anchor text for any links to your personal websites.  Unfortunately for the to do list, this is a lot of junk that comes before things I'd rather do like research spheres of influence in the recent South American conflict or how falling currency values have altered the underground import-export market between the U.S. and Canada.

This brings me to my miniature and completely off-topic rant:

Joomla is a pain in the ASS.  If you're starting a website and you're looking at content management systems to run it on, stay the heck away from Joomla unless you know what you're doing.  Its a favorite for the hackers and I spend twice as long with modifying code as I do writing the dang articles.  (Don't get me started on internet & website marketing - that's an insane task in and of itself.)  Do yourself a favor, use Wordpress or Blogger if you're a programming newbie like myself.

Anyway, I'll now return you to the regularly scheduled market and elections circus games.
